ImageRead on to get some information on what it is I'm working on at the moment and what you can expect to see in the future.

You will find information on upcoming modules and components for Joomla as well as modifications for UBB.threads and other things I'm currently working on. If you are interested in any of these I would appreciate if you'd let me know since I need to prioritize what I should get released first.

Last updated in October 2006

Joomla components and modules under development

Content Keyword System

This is a system to add keywords to content items, which can be used to find the items in searches, be added to the meta keywords, used to find related items as well as an advanced categorizing system. This will at first be added to the Jobline component and hopefully later be released as a framework component to be used by other components as well.

Content Field Extensions

I'm still looking into the possibility to add extra fields to standard Joomla! content, I'm hoping this can be done without modifications, but it's quite tricky. All ideas I've had so far still need slight changes in the Joomla! code and while I've requested them I can't be sure they actually will be added. At the moment I'm looking into using a specific wysiwyg editor which adds the fields, and using AJAX to post the extra information.

Freelancer/Resume Component

This is a component I'm currently developing for a client which can be used as a complement for Jobline to allow applicants to publish information about themselves and allow companies to search the resumes. The client has been kind enough to allow this component to be released under GPL once it's finished.

Secret Santa

Christmas is coming up, and I will release a fun little component I wrote last year. This component will allow your visitors to add a list of friends and the system will then choose a secret santa for each of the friends in the group and send an email to each of them with this information. With this, everyone in the group will have someone to buy a gift for, but they will not know who is buying a gift for them. The component will also allow the administrator to change the information that is sent out in the emails, to make it possible to add advertisements or something similar.

Jx Directory

This is a component I developed for a client quite a while ago, but I've never had the time to release it. I'm hoping the offer still stands to have it released, and if so I will update it for Joomla! and release it soon. The component allows you to have a link directory with a bunch of extra fields for each link and also allows multiple sub-categories.

Component/Plugin/Editor for bbcodes

Since I'm not quite comfortable with users being able to use a complete Wysiwyg Editor on public content I'm thinking of developing a simple editor plugin to add buttons for bbcodes, along with an extendible BBCode content plugin.

UBB.threads v7 Bridge

I am soon going to need a bridge between Joomla 1.5 and the latest version of UBB.threads (v7), so I will hopefully be able to start work on this soon. I already have a modification available for Joomla 1.0.x and an older version of UBB.threads which I will build on, but it won't be released in the current condition. My intent is for this bridge to be completely transparent and not require any modifications to either Joomla or UBB.threads.

Planned work

These are ideas that I've been thinking of doing and possible started preliminary work on but that I haven't decided to do anything about as of yet.

Donation Progress Bars

I'm thinking of developing a simple PayPal donation component which automatically updates progress bars with the amount of donated money, as well as the possibility to have set goals for each progress bar.

User Gallery Component

There's a lot of interest in being able to add images in Mamblog without letting the users have an advanced html editor at their disposal. Because of this I'm thinking of using some code I already have available to develop a simple component to allow users to have their own galleries. This could then be integrated in Mamblog so that they can easily list their own images and add them to a blog entry.

Business Card Generator

This is a component which allows users of your site to create business cards and generate PDF documents ready to be printed. It's actually created to make cards for card games, but I'm planning on making it useful for business cards as well. It will also be possible to create different types of cards, so it should be possible to create greeting cards and similar things as well.

Webcomics component

I have a specification for a webcomics component which allows easy adding of new comic strips and a nice webcomic style navigation for the frontend. This might be developed once I've got some of the work out of the way so it will probably be a while before this component sees the light of day.

Ideas on hold

Some of these ideas are actually working but are too specific to my needs for anybody else to have any use for them and because of this I don't feel that I have the time to spend on making them useable for others. Others are just things I haven't had the time to finish because of other more interesting projects getting in the way or because there already are good components doing the same thing out there.

Restaurant Menu System

I have a simple restaurant menu system written in PHP which uses a flat file system for the database. If the people I've given this code to don't develop a Joomla version of it I will probably need to do it myself.

Invoice Component

I might be able to get some code needed for an invoice system which can create PDF invoices on the fly and if so I might develop a Joomla Component with this functionality as I need to be able to create invoices easily.

Multi article component/Pagebuilder45

This is a small component which allows the admin to create pages containing several articles. As soon as I have an admin section which works in Mambo 4.5 I will release this.

News Gathering Component

This will be a administrator only component that will let the user browse Google News and easily add selected news links to the content section.

Todo-list component

Since I really need to have all my todo lists gathered in one place I'm planning on creating a component for users to keep their own todo lists with their own set of categories. I've got parts of this already defined in the documentation I wrote for the database class.

Integration with phpAdsNew 2

Since I'm using phpAdsNew I'm thinking of integrating the admin login of this with Mambo 4.5.

Component/Module browser

A component which allows the administrator to browse through a list of publically available components and modules and install them on the fly.

User changeable theme values for Mambo

This is a component and module combination which lets users set some of the values of the current css file which then will be used for all visitors. It is possible to configure what css styles that can be changed and which values that can be set. The accompanying module lists the current set values and the latest changes with information on who did the changes and when. At the moment there is a working version for Mambo 4.0.x which will be released as soon as I've written instructions for it. Later on, this will be updated to work with Mambo 4.5.

Newsletter Mambo component

There are a lot of newsletter components out there, so this will probably not released, but it is working.

Guest (64.24.186.xxx) 2004-12-22 07:44:09

Oh I hope you do this ASAP! I have a feeling it would bridge the gap of those
using phpBB and add-ons as portals to bring them on over to Mambo's front door.
I am one of them.

Please hurry! Thanks!

BBCode Editor...
Guest (137.132.3.xxx) 2005-10-28 01:29:51

Truely needed for Joomla! for standardization sake... now each component needs
to do up one on its own...
XOOPS BBCode Editor
Guest (137.132.3.xxx) 2005-10-28 23:07:23

xoops bbcode editor is a bit like bbcode editor in AKO
series...

user-friendly... unlike phpbb code editor... used in Simpleboard
forum...

it would be better if BBCode editor can be implemented in
Mamblog...

as allowing user to use WYSIWYG editor might spoil look and
security of a website...
BBCode editor
admin (83.226.138.xxx) 2005-10-29 14:53:31

One of the reasons to write a bbcode editor is that I want to be able to let
Mamblog users have it, as well as for the coming Jambook component, and anyone
else who wants it, without the need to write one specific to each
component.

It's not really that hard either, it's not like developing a
wysiwyg editor.
Hi Olle
Guest (137.132.3.xxx) 2005-11-08 23:19:03

I have come up with WYSIWYG editors for MARKUP and TEXTILE... would be doing up
a version for BBCode... you might want to have a look... would like to invite
you to join the project... thanks...

here is the discussion
thread...

Donation Component
Guest (65.28.61.xxx) 2005-11-16 01:53:36

A suggestion for a donation component.

I'm currently making a tutorial site
on various topics etc. What I'm trying to fin is a Donation addon where
Individual Authors can recieve donations on either the articles or video
tutorials they write. Simply have a Extented field for new author signups to add
a paypal email account. Then have either a component or mambot call that field
for whoever the author is. So when a donation is made that authors receives the
credit for their work. Then of course I'm sure they could be seperate, but have
a donation field for bandwith cost etc for the site owner.
