Custom Development

Due to taking on a full-time job as a Systems Architect, I'm not available for custom development anymore.

I'm planning on keeping my extensions updated as well as adding new features. For people interested in custom development for my extensions you could ask on the Support Forum. If I can't help, someone else might be able to.

Showcasing Components PDF Print E-mail

I decided it was time to give my components a bit more visibilty, so I've added boxes for them at the top of the frontpage. These boxes should include direct links to all necessary information for each component, instead of each part being hidden somewhere far down in the menus, which will hopefully make things easier to find.

Each component will also get a logo soon, I'm going to start working on them in the next few days, but don't expect anything spectacular as I'm not a designer. I wouldn't mind help on the logo design if any of you are good with Photoshop or Illustrator.

Read on for more information on the changes.

For Jobline and Jambook the documentation and information pages are the same at the moment, this will be changed so that it will work in the same way as Mamblog. This means that the presentation page for the components will include logo, description and detailed feature lists. The documentation will include installation and upgrade instructions, along with usage instructions and any other documentation I have written.

As you can see I've also added an FAQ section for each component, as well as one for my modules and plugins. I will try to add answers to questions here if I come across them, I wouldn't mind suggestions for it either, and it will also includes tips and tricks on how to use the components.

I've also changed around a bit in the File Archive and created new categories for each component to make it easier to find files relating to them. I'm thinking about hosting some extra extensions made by others as well which are useful to my extensions, if I'm allowed to. Other changes are coming as well, I will probably rework the Portfolio page and move component documentation to a separate menu item instead.

I've heard a report that the nice boxes around the component showcasing on the frontpage aren't being shown for some people on Internet Explorer. I haven't been able to reproduce this yet or find a reason for it, except that it seems that the CSS file isn't loaded. I'll try to fix it soon though.

To create the showcase boxes I had to write two new Joomla plugins, to make it easier to add new ones. The first plugin just adds the box with the nice graphics using DIVs and CSS, by entering { box } { /box } (without spaces) around the text you want in the box. The second plugin is a sort of minitemplate which replaces values entered inside the plugin code with the corresponding code in the supplied html template. This means that for each component box on the frontpage I only need to enter information that is specific for the component, and the information will look the same for each minitemplate. Both these plugins will be released in the future, but for the box plugin I will need graphics to supply with it as I don't think I'm allowed to spread the graphics I'm using now (which is taken from the Joomla template I'm using here). If anyone has any graphic elements for boxes that I could use for the plugin I would greatly appreciate it.
