CAPTCHA configuration missing PDF Print E-mail
Written by Olle Johansson
Wednesday, 19 November 2008

Question

The Use CAPTCHA configuration isn't showing, instead the following message is shown in red:

"You don't have the prerequisites to use CAPTCHA. It will automatically be turned off. Please see the documentation for more information."

Answer

This means that your web hosting provider doesn't have all that is needed to create the CAPTCHA images. It is usually that the GD graphics library or the TrueType font support isn't activated in PHP on the server. Please contact your server administrator to have these installed and activated.

Question

When writing guest book entry, the following error shows up:

Call to undefined function: imagettftext

Answer

If you get this error when CAPTCHA image spam protection is activated it means that the PHP installation on your web server doesn't support TrueType fonts. To fix this you will have to ask your hosting provider to turn on TrueType support, or you will need to turn off the CAPTCHA.
